On November 30, 2018, the Opening Ceremony was held in Tbilisi – Training Center of the Emergency Management Service of Georgia, concerning the Project for Provision of a Second-hand Fire Engine for Tbilisi, which has been implemented within the framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” of the Government of Japan. The Ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Tadaharu Uehara, leadership of the Emergency Management Services in Georgia, representatives of the Society for Promotion of Japanese Diplomacy and training participants – fire fighters of the Tbilisi unit.
The Grant Contract of the above-mentioned project was concluded on March 14, 2018 between the Embassy of Japan and Emergency Management Service of Georgia. Under this project, Japan has provided a grant for providing the second-hand fire engine to Tbilisi, allowing to perform fire rescue missions in tall buildings and save lives. The funding of the Embassy of Japan for this project is 99’733 USD.
