On October 1, 2018, the Opening Ceremony was held in Martvili municipality – village Salkhino, in the Samegrelo region of Georgia, concerning the Project for Rehabilitation of Dormitory of St. Ambrosi Khelaia Secondary School in Martvili, which has been implemented within the framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” of the Government of Japan. The Ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Tadaharu Uehara, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, Archbishop Petre (Tsaava) Chkondideli of the Georgian Orthodox Patriarchate, Mr. Alexandre Motserelia, Governor of Samegrelo Region (state trustee) and other representatives of local population.
The Grant Contract of the above-mentioned project was concluded on February 23, 2017, between the Embassy of Japan and St. Ambrosi Khelaia Secondary School. Under this project, Japan has provided a grant for rehabilitation of the dormitory of the St. Ambrosi Khelaia School, allowing over a hundred children to benefit from a rehabilitated space. The budget of the project was 82 528 USD.
