Signing Ceremony on the Non-project Grant Aid Provided by the Government of Japan
On December 15, 2014, the Signing Ceremony for the Exchange of Notes was held at the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, concerning the provision of one hundred million (100,000,000) Japanese Yen (equivalent to approximately 850,000 USD) to Georgia through Non-project Grant Aid.
The Exchange of Notes and the related documents were signed by H.E. Mr. Toshio Kaitani , Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia and H.E. Mr. Nodar Khaduri, Minister of Finance of Georgia.
The present Non-project Grant Aid is to be used for procurement of equipments for environment protection and for disaster prevention. It is expected that the implementation of the grant aid will contribute to enhancement of the early warning system for natural hazards to reduce risks and damages, and of ability to protect environment in Georgia through using unique, efficient and user-friendly technology of Japanese small and medium sized enterprises.
Japan has implemented various range of projects including grant aid, technical cooperation and ODA loan in cooperation with the Government of Georgia, within the framework of its Official Development Assistance (ODA) Program. The size of Japan’s ODA to Georgia has reached over 370 million USD, covering a wide spectrum of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure , agriculture and social sectors, culture and human resources development.
