Donation of Sakura trees from CFSCIJ
Plating ceremonies of Sakura (cherry blossoms) trees donated from Zenkokuren (Central Federation of Societies of Commerce and Industry, Japan) were held in Tbilisi Botanical Garden in the presence of Mr. Yoshihisa Mori, President of Zenkokuren, Mr. Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi City and Ambassador Uehara on February 19 and in Tbilisi State University (TSU), attended by H.E. Mr. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Sharvashidze, Rector of TSU and Ambassador Uehara on February 27.
About 70 of donated 100 trees are planted in Tbilisi Botanical Garden and the rest are gifted to a kindergarten, schools and universities in Tbilisi including TSU.
It is hoped that these Sakura trees will grow big and become a symbol of friendship between Japan and Georgia.
