On November 16, 2021, the Opening Ceremony of “The Project for Provision of Heavy Equipment for Disaster Response and Disaster Risk Reduction in Oni Municipality” was held in Oni which has been implemented within the framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” of the Government of Japan. The Ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Imamura Akira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia; Mayor of Oni Municipality, Mr. Sergi Khidasheli; State Representative in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, Mr. Papuna Margvelidze;
Within this project, heavy machinery has been purchased to clear roads to reduce the vulnerability of the local community to natural disaster and to strengthen preparedness and coping capabilities of the local governments. Grant Amount is 56,584 USD.
