Statement of the Embassy of Japan in Georgia on the activities observed in the vicinity of the village of Takhtisdziri, Kareli municipality

     It is Japan’s consistent position that peaceful resolution of the issue concerning Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia and Abkhazia in Georgia in line with the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders is essential for the peace and stability of the country and the entire South Caucasus region.

     This position is by no means affected by any activities observed in the vicinity of the village of Takhtisdziri, Kareli municipality, on 17-18 April. Japan opposes to any attempt to change Georgia’s internationally recognized borders
