Project Opening Ceremony: “The Project for Closing Cancer Screening Gaps in Underserved Areas through Mobile Clinic” of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” provided by the Government of Japan

On February 18, 2019 the Opening Ceremony was held in Kutaisi, concerning the Project for Closing Cancer Screening Gaps in Underserved Areas through Mobile Clinic, which has been implemented within the framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” of the Government of Japan. The Ceremony was attended by Ambassador Uehara, leadership of the implementing organization - Women Wellness Care Alliance HERA, Deputy Mayor of Kutaisi– Ms. Nino Tvaltvadze and Deputy Governor of Imereti region - Mr. Ioseb Khakhaleishvili.
The Grant Contract of the above-mentioned project was concluded on November 28, 2018, between the Embassy of Japan and Women Wellness Care Alliance HERA. Under this project, Japan has provided a grant for purchasing mobile mammography medical equipment for providing free of charge medical examinations for early detection of breast cancer and therefore – its effective treatment. This project will allow to potentially save hundreds of lives through early detection. The budget of the project was 81 200 USD.
