JAPANESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP FOR 2025 (Japanese Studies Students)

The Government of Japan (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology: MEXT) offers scholarships to international students who wish to study at universities in Japan as Japanese Studies Students, in the framework of the Scholarship Program for 2025.
Those who wish to apply are requested to thoroughly check the application guidelines and apply accordingly.
Please note that applications with incomplete information (omissions, errors, missing documents, applying after deadline, etc.) will not be accepted.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS:
Applicant must be citizens of Georgia, born between April 2, 1995, and April 1, 2007. Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate course at a university outside of Japan, majoring in a field related to Japanese language and culture.
※Please note that this program is not a degree program and that students cannot enroll as regular students at the host university.
APPLICATION RECEPTION
Application documents must be submitted to the Embassy of Georgia both by “e-mail” and “by bringing (mailing) documents to our office” by the date given below.
Application documents should be sent to: culture@tb.mofa.go.jp
(Attachments should not exceed 2 MB in total size.)
Deadline: February 7, 2025 (Fri.) (must reach the Embassy)

SCREENING SCHEDULE
1) First Screening
Evaluation of documents by the Embassy of Japan in Georgia, written examination and interview.
February 7 (Fri.), 2025 – Application deadline
February 20 (Thu.) or 21 (Fri.) - Written examination and face-to-face interview
*Those who pass the First Screening will not necessarily be selected as the MEXT Scholarship grantees.
2) Second Screening
Applicants who have passed the First Screening will be recommended to MEXT. MEXT will conduct the Second Screening.
July to mid-August – Announcement of final results (decision on the university placement)
Sepctember-October – Arrival date to Japan

Translation of documents is the applicant’s responsibility.
Regarding the application form
Please write your name in Romanized characters as it is written in your passport.
Examination results
The Embassy will contact all applicants who have taken the interview test approximately in late February or early March.
