Ambassador Ishizuka Delivered a Lecture at “Calligraphy and Ikebana in the Homeland of Wine”

On 21 September, H.E. Ambassador Ishizuka Hideki delivered a lecture at the cultural event “Calligraphy and Ikebana in the Homeland of Wine,” held at Tbilisi Marriott Hotel.
 

The event was organised by the First International Association of Georgian Calligraphy, with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Georgia.
 

The programme brought together the traditional art of Georgian calligraphy and the Japanese art of Ikebana.
 

The event featured Ms. Taniguchi Chieko, a Sogetsu Ikebana master (“Teacher’s Diploma 1st Grade Riji”) from Japan, who presented an Ikebana demonstration in Georgian qvevri using grapevine, olive tree and flowers. Through this unique arrangement, the demonstration brought together elements deeply connected with Georgian culture and the Japanese art of Ikebana.
 

In his lecture, Ambassador Ishizuka spoke about Ikebana origins and highlighted the importance of mutual understanding of culture in strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between Japan and Georgia. He also spoke about the significance of Ikebana and the role of traditional arts in fostering dialogue and connections between the two countries.
