Opening Ceremony of “The Project for Establishment of Bio-Briquettes Workshop facility for Two Villages in Tsalka Municipality, Kvemo kartli Region”

On November 4, 2020, the Opening Ceremony was held in Tbilisi, concerning “The Project for Establishment of Bio-Briquettes Workshop facility for Two Villages in Tsalka Municipality, Kvemo kartli Region”, which has been implemented within the framework of Grassroots and Human Security Grant Programme (GGP) of the Government of Japan.
The Ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. Tadaharu UEHARA, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Georgia, Counsellor of the Embassy of Japan in Georgia, Mr. Masataka Obata, Head of the Board of Organization BRIDGE – Ms. Nino Kareli, and Board Member of Organization BRIDGE – Ms. Ketevan Getiashvili.
Within the project, the Embassy of Japan has provided 71,498USD for constructing biological bricks at Avranlo and Trialeti villages in Tsalka Municipality. By introducing a new technology, this project developed an eco-friendly firewood alternative which creates a good precedent for replication, to potentially avoid deforestation in Georgia. Moreover, by producing affordable heat the project is very important for poverty alleviation among environmental migrants, residing in Tsalka.
