Q: Can the project funding be more than 10,000,000 Yens?
A: Normally not, but in very rare, special cases exceptions can be made. Nevertheless, we do not recommend requesting budget more than indicated in apply section.

Q: In what language should we apply?
A: All official documents and correspondence are strictly requested to be in English only. As an exception, telephone inquiries or short mail correspondences, if desired, can be made in any acceptable for Embassy staff language.

Q: Does the grant money include the salary for NGO staff?
A: No, Grant funds can only be used for so called “Hardware Component” of the project and nor salaries, neither other administration expenses can be financed.

Q: Is co-financing the project necessary for the Applicant?
A: Co-financing from Applicant, Government and most of other actors is welcomed, but not a prerequisite.

Q: Our organization was established more than three years ago, but we were legally registered only two years ago. Can we still apply?
A: Unfortunately NO! Only organizations with more than three years of active legal and practical experiences are allowed to submit the proposals.

Q: Do you have open calls and deadlines?
A: Although we accept applications from eligible applicants all year around, we can consider you application for the deadline indicated on apply page. We have several deadlines per Fiscal Year.

Q: Can we apply with more than one project Idea?
A: No, we expect one application form from each Organization only.

Q: What is the duration and expectancy of the project?
A: The implementation of the project is expected to be finished during the one year after signing the Grant Agreement. The expectancy of the project is required to be minimum 10 years after implementing the project. Therefore the “sustainability” aspect is paid a big attention during the selection process.

Q: How is the Project implementation controlled by the Embassy?
A: After signing the Grant Agreement, Embassy obliges the Partner to provide reports of project advancing. Monitoring teams are also sent to project sites for further inquires. After completion of the project the independent Audit body selected by the Embassy conducts the Financial and Physical Audit of the Project.    

Q: When will we be informed about final selection decision?
A: Usually only successful projects are notified in about 1-3 months after the official deadline.      

Q: Why is Japan providing money for Georgia?
A: GGP projects are financed not only in Georgia, but in more than 100 developing countries. The interest of Japanese People and Government is to help the people in need suffering from lack of security and enhance their transition towards modern society through material support.
