On the “establishment of diplomatic relations” by Syria with Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia and Abkhazia
2018/6/1
It is Japan’s consistent position that peaceful resolution of the issue concerning Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia and Abkhazia in Georgia in line with the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognized borders is essential for the peace and stability of the country and the entire South Caucasus region.
This position is by no means affected by the “establishment of diplomatic relations” by Syria with Tskhinvali region/South Ossetia and Abkhazia, which are parts of Georgia’s territory. Japan opposes to any attempt to change Georgia’s internationally recognized borders.
