1st Joint Committee of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM)

On January 23, the 1st Joint Committee of Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) between Japan and Georgia was held in a hybrid format (in Tbilisi and online).
After adopting the Joint Committee’s Rules of Implementation, co-chairs were appointed. Rules and guidelines were adopted to implement the JCM in line with Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. Furthermore, the Japanese Government’s JCM funding program was explained and opinions were exchanged.
Based on the adopted rules, through promotion of the JCM Projects in Georgia, it is aimed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions utilizing superior decarbonization technology, and contribute to both countries’ NDCs (Nationally Determined Contribution: Greenhouse Gas Reduction Targets).
