Tea Ceremony demonstration was held at the “Sakura Blossom Time” at the Georgian National Botanical Garden in Tbilisi

On April 5, Ambassador of Japan, Mr. ISHIZUKA Hideki, together with his spouse, attended “Sakura Blossom Time” event (April 5-6) hosted by the National Botanical Garden Tbilisi in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan in Georgia. This is an annual event held in conjunction with the blooming of Japanese cherry blossom Sakura planted in the park, this year marks the fifth iteration of the event.
 

In their opening remarks, Director of the Garden, Ms. Irine Danelia and Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, Mr. Andria Basilaia expressed their gratitude to the Japanese side for various support for garden’s restoration. Ambassador of Japan, Mr. ISHIZUKA Hideki, thanked all those who have dedicated themselves to Sakura Blossom Time and the renovation of the garden and introduced the significance of Sakura flower feast in Japanese culture. 
 

At the event, a tea master Ms. Ohner Toshiko(Tea Master name “SOHO”), who resides in Stockholm, presented an outdoor tea ceremony demonstration to the visitors at the "Sakura Blossom Time".
 

During the event, prominent chefs in Georgia presented sushi demonstration and fencers conducted Kendo performance, which Ambassador Ishizuka and his wife also attended.
