Welcome Reception for Mr. Usui Toshiki and His Delegation Held at the Ambassador’s Residence (Japan Weeks 2025 in Georgia)

On April 7, a welcome reception for pianist Mr. Usui Toshiki and his delegation was held at the Ambassador’s Residence. The delegation was visiting Georgia to perform the “Vazha Azarashvili Tribute Concert 2025 – a memorial concert marking the first anniversary of his demise”, in the scope of “Japan Weeks 2025 in Georgia” on April 8 at the Grand Hall of the Tbilisi State Conservatoire. At the reception, the delegation members interacted and exchanged views with late Mr. Vazha Azarashvili’s family members, as well as Georgian music and cultural figures with close ties with the composer.
In their opening remarks, Ambassador Ishizuka appreciated Mr. Usui, who has been popularizing Mr. Azarashvili’s compositions for many years, for promoting cultural exchange between Japan and Georgia through music. Ms. Nino Kasradze, Vice Rector of Tbilisi State Conservatoire, expressed her gratitude towards the Embassy of Japan and Maestro Usui, for holding this cultural event, and expressed her hope for further development of Japanese-Georgian relations through cultural exchanges. After that, Mr. Usui performed piano pieces composed by Mr. Azarashvili, followed by a toast with Japanese sake.
