Awarding Ceremony of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for FY 2025: Professor Nana Gelashvili (Head of Direction of Far East Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Tbilisi State University)

On September 26, Ambassador Ishizuka Hideki presented a certificate of commendation of the Foreign Minister’s Commendations for the Japanese fiscal year 2025 to Professor Nana Gelashvili, Head of Direction of Far East Studies, Faculty of Humanities, Tbilisi State University, at his official residence.

Professor Gelashvili, as the Head of Direction of Far East Studies of the Faculty of Humanities at Tbilisi State University, has long contributed to the promotion of the Japanese culture and Japan studies at the university. One of the most outstanding of her contributions is the establishment of the Japanese Studies Major Program at the university in 2023.

She also has organized a number of international conferences at the university to introduce Japanese culture, history and politics, greatly contributing to the promotion of mutual understanding and friendly relations between Japan and Georgia.   

Professor Gelashvili was awarded in recognition of her distinguished service in contributing to the promotion of Japan studies in Georgia.

The Foreign Minister’s Commendations are awarded to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in international fields, in order to acknowledge their contributions to the promotion of friendship between Japan and other countries and areas.
