Conferment of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette – Ms. Lana Gogoberidze, Film Director

On 25 December, at the Ambassador’s official residence, Ambassador Ishizuka Hideki held a ceremony to confer the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette on Ms. Lana Gogoberidze, Film Director and one of the recipients of 2025 Autumn Conferment of Decorations on Foreign Nationals.
Ms. Gogoberidze won the Best Director award at the 2nd Tokyo International Film Festival for “Full Circle” (Oromtriali) in 1987. “Golden Thread” (2019), a film inspired by Japanese pottery restoration technique of “kintsugi” (golden joinery), was also screened in Japan in 2019, attracting considerable attention to the Japanese traditional culture through her artworks.
Ambassador Ishizuka appreciated Ms. Gogoberidze’s outstanding contributions to promoting cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Georgia and transferred the decoration and its diploma to her. Ms. Gogoberidze then expressed her heartfelt gratitude.
