Ambassador’s message on the incident in Tbilisi
2021/7/6
On July 5, during a rally in Tbilisi protesting against the Pride Parade planned to take place later on the same day, violence against journalists as well as an act of destruction against office premises took place. I strongly condemn such acts as they are a violation of human rights, including freedom of expression, guaranteed by the Constitution of Georgia. I call on Georgian authorities to take adequate measures in order to prevent such violations and to ensure various groups to exercise their freedom of gathering and freedom of expression in a peaceful manner.
