Lecture “Towada Barayaki: Town Revitalization with local specialty food” was held at the Culinary Academy

On July 19, the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr. ISHIZUKA Hideki opened a lecture on “Regional Cooperation”, in partnership with the Culinary Academy (affiliated with Free University) and the Georgia-Japan Business Council, on the theme of “Towada Barayaki: Town Revitalization with local specialty food”. “Towada Barayaki Seminar” is an organization dedicated to revitalization of Towada City, Aomori Prefecture, through the local dish “Towada Barayaki”.
At the outset of the lecture, the Ambassador gave a speech on the importance of promoting bilateral relations through mutual exchange, as both Japan and Georgia have a rich regional culinary culture. Rector of Free University and Agricultural University, Mr. Vakhtang Lejava, also gave an address as a co-organizer of the event. The lecture was given by Mr. HATANAKA Hiroyuki, headmaster of the seminar, along with a demonstration. Freshly made Barayaki was served to the faculty members and students studying Japanese language at the Free University, as well as to the students and professors at the Culinary Academy, to introduce them to Japanese food culture and the concept of town revitalization.
