Opening Ceremony of the “Project for Establishment of Greenhouse for Growing Tangerines in Autonomous Republic of Adjara”

On July 29, 2024, the opening ceremony was held in Batumi Municipality, for the Project for Establishment of Greenhouse for Growing Tangerines in Autonomous Republic of Adjara.
 
The opening ceremony was attended by H.E. Mr. ISHIZUKA Hideki, the Ambassador of Japan; Mr. Zaza Shavadze – Minister of Agriculture of Ajara Autonomous Republic; Mr. Raul Tavartkiladze – Director of Agroservice Centre.
 
Within this project, a greenhouse was constructed, which enable the cultivation of mandarin seedlings with reduced use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Agroservice Centre will be able to increase the production of seedlings per year from 5,000 to 15,000. Small and medium-sized farmers in the Autonomous Republic of Ajara will be able to grow improved quality seedlings which will meet EU marketing standards. In addition, the yield per mandarin tree grown will be approximately 40% higher by the third year, contributing to increased income for these farmers. Grant Amount is 64,330 USD.
