Embassy of Japan in Georgia held 2nd Japanese Speech Contest

On March 9, 2025, the 2nd Japanese Speech Contest was held at the Tbilisi Free University, organized by the Embassy of Japan in Georgia. The contest brought together 21 participants from Tbilisi and other cities, to present their speeches and showcase their skills, dedication and results of daily Japanese language study to mastering the language.
Last year, the Paris Olympics and Paralympics were held in July, where both Japan and Georgia were successfully competing in various sports, such as Judo. Therefore, this year’s theme was sports in Japan and Georgia.
At the closing ceremony of the contest, Ambassador of Japan, H.E. ISHIZUKA Hideki gave a speech and presented certificates of commendation.
The contest was divided into three categories: beginner, intermediate, and advanced, with each theme and results as follows:
Beginner Category: Sports in Japan and Georgia
Winner: Jugheli Nino [Japanese sport “Judo”]
Runner-up: Chkheidze Nita [Aikido]
3rd Place: Sulikashvili Nino [Japan, Land of Martial Arts and Georgia, Land of Grapes]
Intermediate Category: Sports in Georgia that I want the Japanese to know about
Winner: Tchumburidze Nino [Fighting Dance]
Runner-up: Tchitchikashvili Mariam [Lelo Ball - Traditional Georgian Sport]
3rd Place: Bitsadze Shalva [Souls Connected by Sports]
Advanced Category: What is the appeal of Japanese martial arts (kendo, judo, karate, aikido, etc.) to Georgians?
Winner: Mamaladze Giorgi [Sportsmanship in Georgia and Japan]
