2026 National Day Reception on the Occasion of the Birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan

On February 26, Ambassador of Japan to Georgia H.E. Mr. Ishizuka Hideki, together with his spouse, hosted the National Day Reception in celebration of His Majesty the Emperor’s Birthday at the Pullman Hotel in Tbilisi.
Following the performance of the national anthems of Japan and Georgia by the choir of students from Georgian School Tbilisi, the Ambassador delivered his opening speech, followed by a congratulatory address made by Mr. Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, on behalf of all the guests. He wished for the further development of friendly relations between Japan and Georgia, touching upon the long and deep history of cooperation between the two countries.
Governmental and non-governmental representatives, local cultural figures, businesspersons as well as diplomatic corps, attended the event. In addition to the booths introducing the activities of Japanese local governments, such as Okinawa Prefecture and Hokkaido Prefecture, there were also booths presenting and providing hands-on experience of Japanese sake and tea, as well as various aspects of Japanese culture and the Official Development Assistance (ODA).
The chef of the Ambassador`s official residence conducted a sushi demonstration for the guests, while a renowned sommelier, Mr. Zaza Grigalashvili, introduced a curated selection of Japanese alcoholic beverages. Many attendees enjoyed tasting sushi, seafood directly imported from Japan, Japanese tea and a variety of sake and other selected specialities.
Building upon the outcomes of this reception, the Embassy will continue to make efforts to further develop friendly relations between Japan and Georgia this year.
